Hurricane Irene
August 27-28 2011

Hurricane Irene began impacting the Bergen/Passaic County area with 
its first rain bands around 12:00 Noon on Saturday August 27 2011. 
Overnight, torrential rains and winds arrived, and by 11:00 am on Sunday August 28, 2011
 skies were clearing over Northern NJ, with only Tropical Force Winds remaining thru late in the afternoon. 
Damages in the area included widespread road and steam Flooding, 
with some water rescues of people from cars and homes being done by Public Safety,
numerous trees and power lines down, resulting in widespread power outages and closed roads.
